The COA was formally established in early 2026 to generate rigorous, independent evidence on the ownership, value flows, and stewardship of UK orthopaedic innovation; to inform policy and procurement decisions with that evidence; and to develop practical pathways by which the United Kingdom can retain greater value from the innovations it produces.
